With its blend of retro‑inspired distinctive design, modern driving dynamics, and practical electric range, the stylish Renault 5 E-Tech electric has been named the 2026 Irish Car of the Year.
Having already been voted the Car of the Year 2025 by the European Car of the Year jury, made up of 60 motoring journalists from 23 countries, Renault 5 E-tech electric is on a roll!
Renault 5 E-Tech electric, according to the Chairman of the Motoring Media Association (MMAI) Mark Noble, brought innovation and character to the market, and was a very worthy winner of the Irish Car of the Year title.
This win for Renault comes on the back of the Scenic E-Tech electric taking the 2025 Irish car of the Year title last year.
The Irish Car of the Year in association with Continental Tyres is voted for by members of the Motoring Media Association of Ireland (MMAI), the grouping that brings together some 29 of Ireland’s most experienced motoring journalists. The awards are voted on by the members of the MMAI who individually assess each new car model launched in Ireland each year.
This is the sixth year in a row that an all‑electric vehicle has been voted Irish Car of the Year, underlining the rapid transformation of the Irish car market and the growing appeal of zero‑emissions motoring.
